Recede

 

And then I put it away,
For another rainy day. 

After placing it in the file 

That hasn't been opened for a while.

Right after I felt contained 

From another false pretense. 

As it made me smile, 

With a few grains of pain.

The scene where we were laughing,
The time when we were friends. 

The brief where we were we,
Seemed endless all back then.

And I just couldn't fight
To turn and look away.
'Cause the darkness of the night
Was itching me that way.

And I knew it was coming.
I knew it'd take me away.
As I wake up in the middle of the night
And in the void of the dark I lay.
